DFD Communications

Detroit Fire Department’s Communications Division is a team of highly trained licensed Public Safety Emergency Medical Technicians and Medical First Responder Fire/EMS Dispatchers who operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It is their job to dispatch Fire and EMS apparatus and crews to emergencies and to communicate with crews regarding any additional needs.

The Detroit Fire Department Communications Division provides Detroit residents and visitors with world-class fire department communications relating to the dispatch and follow-up of the appropriate Fire Department resources necessary for the best possible protection of life and property, particularly in the event of fire, medical, and rescue responses.

The Communications Division also serves as a conduit between the Detroit Fire Department and external partners and stakeholders during an emergency incident, ensuring excellence in communication to protect and serve our community.
