What is Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) Training?

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT in 2004, provides strategies, guidance and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, medical issues (Stop the Bleed), and considerations for conducting drills.

What is Stop the Bleed training?

In a STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.

How long does training last?

CRASE training lasts 1.5 to 2 hours. Stop the Bleed training lasts 1 to 1.5 hours. CRASE and Stop the Bleed scheduled in one session would last approximately 3 hours.

Is there a cost associated with CRASE and Stop the Bleed Training?
