City Clerk's Archives and Records FAQ

I need a copy of the minutes from a City Council meeting. Where Do I get Them?

If the meeting took place from the year 2010 to the present, they can be obtained from the Office of the City Clerk at 2 Woodward Ave., Room 200, Detroit between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  If the meeting took place from before 2010, they are available at the Archives office.

Is there a cost to view the archived documents?

Is is free to view the documents. Due to the nature of the historical documents, no food, beverages, candy or gum is allowed in the area.

What is the procedure to view the archives and records?

Please submit the Appointment or Public Records Request form via mail or walk-in.

Hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm  Weekdays

Once your request is received, our office will respond within 48 hours. Archival material may not be taken out of the Archives and Records Management Division.
