Fire Operations

The Detroit Fire Department responds to an average of 4000 emergencies per month. This includes fire incidents, auto accidents, medical emergencies and other general emergencies. The Department also operates the fire boat Curtis Randolph for emergencies in and along the Detroit River. In 2015 The Fire Operations Division implemented the Medical First Responder program to further serve the citizens. Since the implementation of the program, the fire department has lowered response times for priority one medical emergencies to meet the national standard of 8 minutes from the time a 911 call is received.
