Jay Rising is a seasoned financial expert. Rising has a long career of accomplishment at the state level, having served three Michigan governors as a treasurer, deputy treasurer and adviser. Most recently, he served as Cabinet Secretary for Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.
He also has had a distinguished career in the private sector. Rising joined the law firm of Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone in 1991 and worked with the firm until 1998. He also served as the vice president and chief financial officer with the Detroit Medical Center.
As the Chief Financial Officer with the City of Detroit, Rising will work at the federal and state level to gain financial support for the City’s COVID-19 response and economic revitalization efforts.
Rising holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from Wayne State University.
