Looking For A Grant?
Looking for a Grant
Grant funds are a critical revenue stream for the City of Detroit. The Office of Development and Grants supports the city by ensuring each department has the resources and tools needed to operate efficiently and effectively. From Community Development Block Grants for neighborhood service organizations, to funds for the Police Department to support auto theft prevention, grant dollars are at work in every neighborhood of Detroit every day.

What Does That Mean For Me?
- The only department that routinely provides grants directly to the public is the Housing and Revitalization Department (HRD). HRD provides Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) by evaluating and approving proposals via the Request for Proposals (RFP) process. The department also provides workshops to help community partners prepare better and more competitive proposals for projects they want to pursue. If you belong to a nonprofit or community group, please visit the HRD For Nonprofit and Community Groups page fore more information.
- We are always happy to talk with new potential partners! Please contact Brandi Shelton at [email protected] to identify next steps for your idea.
- New opportunities arise every day. While the Office only provides direct assistance to City Departments and Partners, we offer some general tips for fundraising success and a selection of current grant announcements below.
