DHS/FEMA accepting applications for Nonprofit Security Grant Program through May 25

  • Nonprofit organizations may apply for up to $150K per site
  • State to hold NSGP Grant Q and A on Friday, May 20

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is now accepting applications for the 2022 Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP) to enhance the ability of nonprofits to prevent, protect against, prepare for, and respond to terrorist attacks.  All required application documents must be submitted electronically by 5PM May 25, 2022.

The objective of the 2022 NSGP is to provide funding for physical and cyber security enhancements and other security-related activities to faith-based, community, and nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack.  The NSGP is designed to strengthen information sharing and collaboration by forging partnerships with broader state and local preparedness efforts.

Examples of security enhancement projects include access control equipment such as card readers and camera systems; physical protective measures such as concrete barriers and perimeter fencing; and impact-resistant doors and gates.

Nonprofit organizations may not apply directly to DHS/FEMA for FY 2022 NSGP funds.  Nonprofit organizations must apply for the NSGP through their respective State Administrative Agency (SAA). Nonprofit applicants with one site may apply for up to $150,000 for that site. Nonprofit applicants with multiple sites may apply for up to $150,000 per site for up to three sites, for a maximum of $450,000 per applicant.

The SAAs will then submit all application information to FEMA. A list of SAA points of contact is available at:

The period of Performance for the Nonprofit Security Grant is 36 months, from a projected start date of September 1, 2022, through a projected end date of August 31, 2025.
